What Sustainable Living Really Means?

If we rewind a little while we were growing up, we lived a green life without realising it. Our food habits, mode of travel, entertainment, the pattern of buying stuff was different. Back then, we would return to the earth whatever we took from it.

So what is considered a green life, a life which is flourishing for us and our Earth?

Indeed, a Sustainable lifestyle aims to reduce personal and societal environmental impact by making changes that counteract negative environmental concerns, which in turn is beneficial for humankind.

The world is under threat from global health concerns, economic challenges, biodiversity loss and climate change so, in essence, our collective lifestyle choices will determine our future.

We saw in this pandemic, how our behaviour change & lifestyle choices keep us safe and help in breaking the chain. Similarly, if we look at the broader picture, living sustainably is the status quo going ahead. It is not just about buying a compostable brush but also about choosing not to decorate your room with mylar/latex balloons on your birthday.

Individual choices will not only reduce the impact on the environment but also pressure industries to innovate towards sustainability.

So, will this make a difference? Absolutely. But sustainable living alone won’t accomplish much in the grand scheme of things.

To see real and lasting change, we must also call on our government to regulate unsustainable practices in industries. Pass resolutions to make systems and society as a whole sustainable

Living sustainably requires us to develop sustainable habits that we put into practice every day the only way forward is to improve our quality of life on Earth.
